Job summary

MacGregor Industrial Supplies in Inverness is hiring a Plant & Hire Equipment Technician to service, repair and prepare plant and hire equipment, ensuring readiness for customer use.

You’ll diagnose faults, complete pre- and post-hire inspections and work closely with the Parts team while maintaining a safe, well-organised workshop. This full-time role includes a 37.5-hour week and an on-call weekend rota shared across the team.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing and repairing plant and hire equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Hands-on, can-do approach; works well independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and preparing plant and hire equipment.
• Inspecting, testing and repairing returned hire equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and carrying out mechanical repairs.
• Completing pre-hire and post-hire inspections to ensure safety standards.
• Working closely with the Parts team to source components.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop.
• Setting up and operating equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
• Accurately completing job records, service sheets and timesheets.
• Ensuring equipment is cleaned and ready for the next hire.
• Supporting the wider team to maximise equipment availability.
• Participating in a 1 in 4 weekend on-call rota to support customer needs.
