Job summary

MacGregor Industrial Supplies Ltd is seeking a Workshop Technician to perform mechanical and electrical diagnostics, repairs, testing and servicing of hire and customer equipment, mainly within established procedures. The role requires fault diagnostics, parts sourcing, and maintaining diagnostic software knowledge.

The ideal candidate will have relevant vocational qualifications, experience with engines and outdoor equipment, a valid driving licence, and strong IT and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Vocational qualification (HND/HNC, City & Guilds or SVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) is required.
• Experience with 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, lawn care gear, golf equipment and quad bikes is preferred.
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge and understanding.
• Full valid driving licence is essential.
• IT literate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults, service, and repair equipment to department and company standards.
• Identify and order required parts and provide customer quotes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of diagnostic software.
• Complete work efficiently within time expectations.
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI).
• Comply with health & safety policies and report hazards.

Full Time- 37.5 Hours

We are currently seeking a Workshop Technician to carry out a range of mechanical and electrical tasks including diagnostics, repairs, testing and servicing of Hire and Customer equipment, working mainly within established procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults, service, and repair equipment to Departmental and Company standards
• Identify and order required parts, providing customer quotes if needed
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of franchise diagnostic software
• Complete work efficiently and within time expectations
• Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI)
• Comply with all health & safety policies and report hazards

Skills & Experience

• Vocational qualification, e.g., HND/HNC, City & Guilds and/or SVQ Level 2/3 in relevant subject (or equivalent)
• Experience in 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines, lawnmowers, Ground Care, Professional golf equipment and Quad bikes etc. preferred
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge and understanding
• Full Valid Driving License
• IT Literate and have good analytical and problem solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Responding to new pressures, adjusting priorities as needed
• Self-motivated and able to work under own autonomy and as part of a team
• Ability to respond positively to new challenges and change
