The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) in Oxford is seeking a Controlled Environment Lead to build and run our plant growth and phenotyping facilities. You will establish systems, processes and a team, reporting to the Director, Technology Development, and you may grow field trial operations.

You will personally perform greenhouse, chamber and field tasks while developing scalable operations, workflows, and SOPs to support high‑quality research and eventual commercial applications.

Qualifications

• PhD in horticulture, plant science, plant pathology, agronomy or related field.
• Extensive hands-on greenhouse or controlled-environment experience.
• Experience with plant growth facilities, data capture and SOPs.

Responsabilités

• Deliver controlled, reproducible growth environments in greenhouses and growth chambers.
• Grow healthy plants, troubleshoot abiotic and pest issues to ensure data quality.
• Oversee planting, transplanting, irrigation, sampling and trial logistics.
• Contribute to phenotypic data collection, protocols, and data organisation.
• Lead pest scouting, pesticide application, and regulatory compliance.
• Help design and grow the Event Validation team and staffing.
