Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology Oxford seeks a Controlled Environment Lead to build and oversee our plant growth and phenotyping facilities. The role carries responsibility for establishing systems, processes, and a team to scale operations as the company grows.

You will personally perform greenhouse, chamber, and field work initially while establishing a scalable organization and SOPs, training staff, and aligning with project goals across AI, automation, and plant science.

Qualifications

• PhD in horticulture, plant science, plant pathology, agronomy or related field plus extensive hands‑on greenhouse/controlled environment experience.
• Deep practical knowledge of greenhouse and controlled‑environment operations from propagation to harvest.
• Strong plant-health capability including IPM, sanitation, and pesticide application/recordkeeping.

Responsibilities

• Ensure controlled, reproducible growth environments in chambers and greenhouses with contingency plans.
• Grow healthy plants and address abiotic, pest and pathogen issues to yield high‑quality data and samples.
• Oversee planting, transplanting, irrigation, fertilising, trimming, pollination, sampling, and trial logistics across crops.
