Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford seeks a Senior Group Leader, Industry to steer a flagship plant biotechnology programme, boosting yield and reducing inputs. You will build and manage a cross-disciplinary team, drive high-impact research, and shape strategic collaborations to move discoveries toward commercial impact.

You will lead the Plant Biology Institute, partnering across EIT ecosystems to ensure rigorous science, ethical standards, and scaled solutions; exciting opportunities

Qualifications

• Leader of research group(s) within academia or industry.
• Recognised thought leader in their field with a record of high-impact patents, partnerships, research consortia, speaking engagements and publications.
• Proven ability to build and drive high-performing, deliverable-oriented teams of PhDs/Post doctoral researchers and scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead flagship research programme focused on yield improvement and biotechnological engineering of plant processes.
• Recruit, mentor and manage a diverse team of researchers and support staff.
• Define research path to impact, ensure programmes are value- and purpose-driven, and align with organizational strategy.
• Foster collaborations across EIT Oxford and external partners to translate discoveries into commercial opportunities.
• Oversee resources, budgets, milestones, and performance targets across the Plant Biology Institute.
