Job summary

Aligra is recruiting a Plant Mechanic for a major recycling plant in the UK. The role involves inspecting, maintaining and repairing industrial shredders, conveyors and other plant machinery, with welding duties as required.

The shift pattern runs Monday to Friday with Saturday mornings, totaling 49 hours per week, offering career progression and training opportunities. A UK driving licence is required and the pay range is £40,000–£50,000 per annum DOE.

Qualifications

• Previous mechanical and electrical experience.
• Experience repairing mobile plant such as forklifts and lorries.
• Background in Lorries (HGV) maintenance is an advantage.
• Experience repairing conveyors, industrial shredders, granulators.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and troubleshoot industrial shredders, granulators, conveyors and other plant machinery.
• Repair faults on plant machinery or arrange for replacements to be installed.
• Carry out inspections and routine maintenance on plant machinery.
• Carry out routine maintenance for Lorries and other vehicles.
• Perform preventative maintenance and welding as needed.

Shift:

• Monday to Friday + 4 hours on Saturday mornings
• 49 hours per week

Pay Rate:

• £40,000 to £50,000 per annum (DOE)

Main Duties:

• Inspect and troubleshoot industrial shredders, granulators, conveyor belts and other plant machinery.
• Fixing faults on plant machinery or arranging for replacements to be installed)
• Carrying out inspections on plant machinery.
• Carrying out routine scheduled maintenance work for Lorries.
• Preventative maintenance.
• Welding activities when necessary.
• Dealing with breakdowns, unplanned problems, and repairs.
• Check functionality of safety systems.
• Fitting new parts and making sure equipment.

Experience Required:

• Previous mechanical and electrical experience Experience in repairing mobile plant such as forklifts and lorries.
• Background in Lorries (HGV) maintenance or any vehicle maintenance; not mandatory, however represents an advantage.
• Experience in repairing any machinery such as conveyor belts, industrial shredders, granulators.
• Experience in repairing/maintaining any industrial machinery Basic knowledge of electrical systems-represents an advantage, but not essential.
