Job summary

Straight-Line Group Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Mechanical Engineer to join their team. The role focuses on servicing and maintaining plant, machinery, and equipment across construction, agricultural, and commercial vehicle sectors.

In this hands-on position, you will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and ensure all work complies with health and safety standards. A valid driving licence and relevant mechanical qualifications are required.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.

Are you an experienced Plant Fitter or Mechanical Engineer looking for your next opportunity?

I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Fitter / Mechanical Engineer to join an established team. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical knowledge, a hands‑on approach, and experience working with plant, machinery, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or commercial vehicles.

The Role

Working within a busy workshop environment, you’ll be responsible for keeping a range of plant and machinery operating safely and efficiently.

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on plant and machinery.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults.
• Identifying faults and carrying out effective repairs.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Following all relevant health and safety procedures.
• Working independently while maintaining excellent standards of workmanship.

About You

I’m looking for someone who has proven experience within a Plant Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Agricultural Engineer, or similar mechanical role.

You’ll need to be practical, reliable, and confident diagnosing faults and working on a variety of mechanical systems. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are important, particularly given the fast-paced nature of the workshop.
