Job summary

Gracelands Ltd is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to maintain and repair our fleet of construction plant and equipment. This hands-on role keeps equipment safe, reliable and operational across projects, with responsibility for routine servicing and fault diagnosis.

You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults, repair excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers and loaders, and ensure compliance with health, safety and legal requirements.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter/Plant Mechanic is essential.
• Strong knowledge of construction plant and equipment.
• Good fault-finding in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience servicing and repairing excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, loaders or similar plant.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple maintenance tasks.
• Experience with small plant and tools would be advantageous.
• Experience with diagnostics equipment preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance across the company’s plant and equipment.
• Coordinate with the Plant Manager to provide updates on repairs and maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults accurately and efficiently.
• Complete repairs to excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, loaders and other construction plant.
• Carry out repairs and maintenance to engines, hydraulics, transmissions, braking systems, electrical systems and general mechanical components.
• Attend breakdowns on site and carry out repairs where required.
• Prepare plant for inspections, servicing and statutory examinations, and complete any required remedial work.
• Monitor the condition of plant and identify recurring faults or potential issues before they lead to breakdowns.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with health and safety, environmental and legal requirements.

We are a busy civil engineering and groundworks company looking for an experienced Plant Fitter to help maintain and repair our fleet of construction plant and equipment.

This is a hands-on role that is essential to keeping our plant safe, reliable and operational across our projects. About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience servicing and repairing excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, loaders or similar plant.
• A full UK driving licence.
• The ability to prioritise work and manage multiple maintenance requirements.
• Experience with small plant and tools would be an advantage.
• Experience with using diagnostics equipment preferred but not essential.
