Job summary

Foot Anstey LLP is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join our Planning & Environmental team in a role spanning Southampton, Bristol, and Exeter. You will advise on a wide range of planning matters, including major infrastructure projects and development delivery, while collaborating with colleagues to deliver practical and commercially minded solutions.

The role emphasizes DCO/ICO work, environmental matters, stakeholder management, and business development, with a supportive environment

Qualifications

• Approximately 3–6 years’ PQE in planning law or equivalent.
• Experience advising on major infrastructure regimes (DCOs/ICOs).
• Strong Town and Country Planning Act experience and development delivery work.
• Experience in energy, transport, utilities, regeneration or wider infrastructure sectors is desirable.
• Commercial, pragmatic approach with excellent client service.

Responsibilities

• Advise on a broad range of planning matters for clients and help deliver practical, commercial advice.
• Lead on Development Consent Orders and infrastructure regime projects, including strategy and consent implementation.
• Negotiate planning and infrastructure agreements (e.g., section 106).
• Provide planning support on corporate, real estate, energy and infrastructure transactions.
• Collaborate with the broader Property Group to ensure seamless client service.
• Develop client relationships and contribute to business development.
• Mentor and develop junior lawyers and trainees within the team.
