Job summary

Carmichael UK is recruiting an experienced Planner for the Devonport Dockyard project in Plymouth, Devon. The role focuses on developing, maintaining and monitoring detailed programmes to ensure timely delivery of complex construction and infrastructure works within a defence environment.

Key responsibilities include updating schedules in Primavera P6, monitoring progress, reporting, and working with delivery, commercial and stakeholders to ensure accuracy and on-time performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Planner in civil engineering, infrastructure, defence, marine, rail, highways or major construction projects.
• Strong Primavera P6 experience.
• Excellent understanding of project planning methodologies and project controls.
• Ability to analyse programme performance and identify issues proactively.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update project programmes using Primavera P6.
• Monitor progress against programme and identify potential risks and delays.
• Produce programme updates, progress reports and look-ahead schedules.
• Work closely with delivery teams, commercial teams and stakeholders to ensure programme accuracy.
• Support planning and project controls activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist with critical path analysis and programme optimisation.
• Contribute to reporting requirements and performance reviews.

Planner - Devonport Dockyard

Location: Plymouth, Devon

Rate: £340 - £390 per day (DOE)

Contract: Long-term Contract

Hours: Monday to Friday (Site Based)

Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Planner to join a major civil engineering and infrastructure programme based at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a high-profile project delivering complex construction and infrastructure works within one of the UK's most important defence environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, maintaining and monitoring project programmes to ensure the successful delivery of works.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update project programmes using Primavera P6
• Monitor progress against programme and identify potential risks and delays

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Planner within civil engineering, infrastructure, defence, marine, rail, highways or major construction projects
• Strong Primavera P6 experience

• Ability to analyse programme performance and identify issues proactively
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Previous experience working on large, complex projects is highly desirable
