Job summary

Kenton Black Limited's client is a leading contractor delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK. This Planning Engineer role focuses on developing, monitoring and managing project programmes for major infrastructure works in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

The position is hybrid, covering London and the South East (Bridgewater), a 6-month contract Inside IR35, paying up to £550 per day, and requires Primavera P6 / Asta Powerproject proficiency, NEC contracts

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Experience as a Planning Engineer/Senior Planner within major infrastructure, energy or complex construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or Asta Powerproject.
• Experience developing and maintaining detailed, logic-linked programmes.
• Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
• Experience with critical path analysis and programme change management.
• Knowledge of earned value analysis, QSRA and TRA methodologies.
• Ability to analyse programme performance and communicate project risks/delays clearly.
• Strong Excel and reporting skills.
• Strong communication across project, engineering and commercial teams.
• Able to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage and maintain fully resourced and logically linked project programmes.
• Produce detailed programmes covering design, procurement and construction activities.
• Monitor project progress against baselines and identify delays or concerns.
• Undertake critical path analysis and highlight key programme risks and opportunities.
• Assess the programme impact of project changes and support mitigation strategies.
• Produce regular programme updates, progress reports and KPIs.
• Support project teams with accurate forecasting and programme information.
• Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Commercial teams to maintain alignment across project delivery.
• Support the development of tender and contract programmes where required.
• Ensure planning activities are aligned with contractual and commercial requirements.
• Contribute to programme risk analysis and project controls activities.
• Share planning best practice across the wider project team.

As a Planning Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, monitoring and management of project programmes across complex infrastructure works.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Commercial teams, you will ensure programmes accurately reflect project requirements, progress and risk. You will provide clear planning insight to support effective project delivery and decision-making.

This is a hybrid position covering London and the South East and would suit an experienced planner who is comfortable working within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary project environment.
