Job summary

James Fisher and Sons plc seeks a Mechanical Pipefitter/Technician in Inchinnan, Glasgow, to install, assemble and test small-bore piping systems. You will read blueprints, plan layouts and ensure safety and quality standards across demanding marine and defence projects.

The role involves testing, compliance with permits to work and hands-on training for junior staff, with travel to client sites potentially including overseas assignments. A defence clearance will be required.

Qualifications

• Defence sector role requiring security clearance.
• Experience with marine/defence standards recommended.
• Experience with high-pressure systems advantageous.

Responsibilities

• What follows are key duties for the role: Install, assemble, maintain and test small-bore piping systems per drawings and procedures.
• Conduct inspections and tests to ensure integrity and function of piping systems.
• Collaborate with other departments to integrate piping into projects.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
• Provide training to junior staff and prepare detailed reports on installations and maintenance.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards, permits to work, risk assessments and PPE.
