Job summary

The Physiotherapy Assistant role within Belfast Health and Social Care Trust provides hands-on support to qualified physiotherapists in inpatient and community settings. You will help deliver treatment plans and carry your own caseload within your scope of practice.

You will prepare equipment, assist with assessments and treatment (including hydrotherapy where appropriate), supervise simple exercise programmes, and support discharge planning and home visits.

Qualifications

• Essential criteria include NVQ Level 2 in a health care related subject or equivalent.
• GCSEs at Grade C or above including English and Maths or equivalent.
• 12 months practical experience in direct patient care or rehabilitation in a health care setting.
• Hold a current full driving licence valid in the UK (or access to transport).

Responsibilities

• Support the physiotherapist in providing a comprehensive treatment programme for inpatients or community service users.
• Prepare service users for treatment and equipment as required.
• Assist with assessment and treatment, including hydrotherapy where appropriate.
• Carry own caseload under supervision and progress treatment within agreed parameters.
• Undertake walking practice, exercise groups and therapeutic procedures as directed by the physiotherapist.
