Job summary

Teach Now is recruiting a Year 2 Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in Haringey, London. The role concentrates on reading, phonics and writing, supporting the teacher and leading small groups.

The ideal candidate will have strong phonics knowledge, KS1 experience, and solid behaviour management. An enhanced DBS is required or willingness to apply; 8:30am–3:30pm, term time only, four days a week may be considered.

Qualifications

• KS1 classroom experience, ideally in Year 1 or Year 2.
• Strong phonics knowledge and experience supporting reading groups.
• Positive behaviour management skills.
• Understanding of neurodiversity and emotional regulation.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
• Two professional references covering recent work with children.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the teacher, supporting pupils flexibly across the class.
• Lead phonics and reading groups, providing targeted support where needed.
• Reinforce phonics and writing skills across the curriculum.
• Encourage positive behaviour and support emotional regulation.
• Complete a 30-minute lunchtime duty.
