Job summary

Teach Now Limited in Enfield is seeking a warm, organised KS1 Teaching Assistant for a full-time, long-term temporary role starting 8 September 2026. You will support phonics, early reading, writing and number skills, helping pupils build confidence and positive classroom habits.

The ideal candidate has EYFS/KS1 experience, strong English, and a patient, nurturing approach. DBS enhanced and two references are preferred; right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with EYFS or KS1 is required.
  • Strong spoken English and clear communication.
  • Patience, creativity and a nurturing approach.
  • Ability to engage young children with clear expectations.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the class teacher during lessons and activities.
  • Delivering phonics practice and early-reading interventions.
  • Listening to pupils read and recording progress.
  • Supporting early writing, handwriting and number work.
  • Preparing practical resources and learning areas.
  • Helping pupils follow routines and manage transitions.
  • Providing additional support for children with SEND or communication needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and cooperation.
  • Supervising children safely during different parts of the school day.
  • Sharing observations with the teacher and SENCO.

Education

Level 2/3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning, childcare or early years
