Job summary

Teach Now is seeking a warm KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils during the important early stages of their primary education in Harrow. You will help with phonics, reading and numeracy, and assist the class teacher to create a positive, engaging classroom environment.

Experience in schools or educational settings is preferred; Level 2/3 qualification and an Enhanced DBS are desirable, with the right to work in the UK required. The role spans full-time temporary contract with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or educational setting.
• Understanding of KS1 learning and development.
• Phonics experience would be particularly valuable.
• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• A patient, enthusiastic and nurturing approach.
• Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils throughout KS1 lessons and activities.
• Work with individuals and small groups who need additional help.
• Reinforce phonics, early reading, writing and number skills.
• Prepare classroom resources and support learning activities.
• Encourage children to become confident and independent learners.
• Provide additional support for pupils with SEN where appropriate.
• Help maintain positive behaviour and classroom routines.
