Job summary

Riverside Medical Practice in Shrewsbury is seeking a compassionate Phlebotomist to join our busy team. You will perform venepuncture across age groups and support high-quality patient care within a multidisciplinary setting.

The role is initially 27.5 hours per week with growth expected as services expand. Salary is £12.71+ per hour depending on experience, with a supportive environment and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent education is required.
• Recognised phlebotomy qualification is essential.
• Desirable infection prevention and control training is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Perform venepuncture for patients of all ages within competency.
• Identify patients and confirm investigations before sampling.
• Label, process and transport specimens to the lab per procedures.
• Maintain accurate electronic patient records.
• Monitor stock levels of phlebotomy equipment and report shortages.
• Ensure clinical rooms are clean, stocked and safe.
• Adhere to infection prevention, health and safety and SOPs.
• Maintain confidentiality and information governance.
• Provide reassurance to anxious patients during blood tests.
• Collaborate with practice team to support efficient patient care.
• Participate in mandatory training and professional development.
