Job summary

Riverside Medical Practice in the West Midlands is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to join the nursing team. The role involves blood sampling across all ages, specimen handling and electronic record-keeping, with progression of hours expected.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised phlebotomy qualification and proven venepuncture experience, working closely with GPs, practice nurses and healthcare assistants.

Qualifications

• GCSE level or equivalent.
• Recognised phlebotomy qualification.
• Proven venepuncture experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Take blood samples by venepuncture from patients of all ages in line with competency and protocols.
• Check patient identity and confirm tests before sampling.
• Label and process specimens for laboratory transport and maintain electronic records.
• Monitor stock levels of phlebotomy supplies and report shortages.
• Maintain clean, safe clinical rooms and equipment.
• Follow infection prevention and control policies and data protection guidelines.
• Support patient confidentiality and information governance.
• Interact empathetically with anxious patients and provide reassurance.
• Collaborate with GPs, nurses and healthcare assistants for efficient care.
• Complete mandatory training and CPD.
