Job description

Job Overview

We have an opportunity to join our Pathology Phlebotomy team as a Phlebotomist.

You will be working across various settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments, so effective communication skills are essential.

We seek a flexible Phlebotomist to help cover our 24-hour service. Please contact the interview panel for information on typical shift patterns.

No experience is necessary, as full training will be provided. You will learn to perform blood draws and cannulation after training.

The team collaborates closely with laboratories and clinical teams to expedite diagnostic testing for a wide range of patients.

What You’ll Do

Provide high-quality phlebotomy and cannulation services, ensuring excellent patient care for inpatients and other areas requiring venesection or cannulation. Assist in delivering personalized care under supervision of qualified nurses and healthcare professionals.

Self-motivated, dynamic individuals passionate about blood sampling and patient care. Attention to detail, workload prioritization, adaptability, and high standards are essential.

Person Specification
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience

Essential:

  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to handle work pressures, especially in high-care areas
  • Ability to complete training in Venesection, cannulation, and ANTT within 2 months

Desirable:

  • Healthcare experience
  • Full in-house training provided, experience preferred but not essential
  • NVQ3 or willingness to undertake NVQ training
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Hospital clinical experience
  • Experience with Venesection in an acute setting
  • Experience with hospital IT systems
