Job summary

Practice Plus Group is recruiting a Pharmacy Support Worker for HMP Leeds, a busy Category B male remand and resettlement prison in Armley. The role offers 37.5 hours per week with a rolling two-week rota, including early shifts on weekdays and some weekend coverage.

Training and development are provided to support career progression in Pharmacy and Healthcare. The salary is £24,784 per annum, with security vetting due to the nature of the site.

Responsibilities

• Support onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager and the wider healthcare team.
• Second check medication before dispensing to patients on rounds.
• Carry out medication spot checks in cells.
• Contribute to medicine reconciliation, stock medicines management and transportation of medicines.
• Help ensure a safe and secure medicines management service per SOPs.
• Work in the medication hatches on the wings.
• Be a key member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Support Worker to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Leeds, a busy Category B male remand and resettlement prison in Armley.

This is a fantastic opportunity start or continue your career in Pharmacy and Healthcare - no previous experience is necessary, and we will support you with lots of training and development opportunities.

Hours

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week.

We run a 2 week rolling rota, and shifts are 7am - 4pm on weekdays, 8am - 4pm on weekends. There is one 7am - 9pm shift per fortnight.

Salary

The salary for this role is £24,784 per annum

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing

As our new Pharmacy Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Support the onsite Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team

• Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transportation of medicines
• Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures
• Work in the medication hatches on the wings

Our new Pharmacy Support Worker will have:

• No experience is necessary - we are looking for someone with a keen interest in Pharmacy, and keen to pursue a career in Pharmacy and Healthcare
• An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing would be a bonus, but isn't essential
• Ideally have medicines handling experience, although this isn't essential
• Be a hard worker, diligent, with a high attention to detail
