Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire is looking for a Pharmacy Services Assistant to join the team and help provide safe, patient-centred pharmaceutical care. You will assist with dispensing, reception of prescriptions, stock management and adherence to SOPs in a busy hospital setting.

The role requires you to be motivated, able to work unsupervised, and to plan and organise workload while maintaining accuracy and high standards of safety. Training and CPD support are provided.

Qualifications

• Scottish Vocational Qualification Pharmacy Services Level II or working towards or equivalent experience.
• Be capable of understanding and working within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Commitment to CPD / Self motivation / Ability to work unsupervised.
• Able to plan, prioritise and organise workload and to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assemble medicines accurately and safely for dispensing.
• Receive, store, distribute and deliver medicines.
• Produce, monitor and file documentation.
• Provide ward stock management service.
• Receive prescriptions from nurses, patients or portering staff.
• Dispense inpatient, outpatient and discharge prescriptions.
• Receive/distribute pharmaceutical products including IV fluids and cytotoxic preparations.
• Check and store medical gases.
