We have an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Thameside, a category B prison located in London.

HMP Thameside is a male prison based in London with a capacity for 1232 inmates. We are recruiting for a Pharmacy Assistant for 3 days per week to support the Pharmacist and Technicians with labelling, checking, collections, placing orders, etc. The team consists of around 15 members, including a Senior Pharmacist, Technicians, and Assistants.

Monday - Wednesday
0900 - 1700

Salary

This position is Part Time, and you’ll receive an annual salary up to £29,690 per annum (FTE), depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing efficient, safe, and legal pharmacy and medicines service to our patients.
  • Ordering and receiving medicines, managing storage conditions, safe disposal, and return, under SOPs. Supporting the supply, preparation, and assembly of medicines under the direction of the pharmacy team.
  • Delivering non-judgemental and patient-centred care.
  • Making a real difference as a key member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, supported by our Health in Justice Competency frameworks, policies, protocols, and safeguarding considerations.
  • Promoting best practice, professionalism, and patient-centred care.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills or equivalent, or working towards it
