Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a patient SEND Science Tutor to provide ongoing one-to-one Biology-focused tuition for a Year 9 student accessing EOTAS in Herefordshire. Sessions are in-person, 2–3 hours weekly, with flexible scheduling to suit the learner's needs.

You will tailor teaching to dyslexia, dyspraxia, ASD and demand-avoidant tendencies, fostering autonomy and confidence while delivering engaging, accessible Biology content across the school year.

Qualifications

• Strong Science knowledge and ability to support a Year 9 learner.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND.
• Experience supporting learners with ASD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and/or demand-avoidant profiles.
• Experience delivering one-to-one tuition or personalised educational support.
• Ability to adapt learning for learners who may find traditional teaching challenging.
• Patient, calm, flexible and empathetic approach.
• Provide a low-pressure, supportive learning environment.
• Comfortable giving autonomy and choice within sessions.
• Creative and flexible approach to following a learner's interests.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Safeguarding commitment and ability to maintain professional boundaries.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Delivering 2-3 hours of personalised Science tuition per week.
• Supporting a Year 9 student accessing EOTAS provision.
• Providing consistent tuition throughout the full school year.
• Planning engaging and accessible Science sessions tailored to the student's needs.
• Using a flexible, low-pressure approach to encourage engagement with learning.
• Giving the student autonomy and input into how learning begins.
• Following the student's interests to improve engagement and motivation.
• Initially exploring Biology and expanding content as appropriate.
• Adapting teaching methods and resources to support dyslexia, dyspraxia, ASD and d-a tendencies.
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to parents/carers and professionals.
