Job summary

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group is seeking a dedicated Personal Tutor at Stafford College. You will deliver group tutorials and one-to-one support to 16–19 learners, monitor progress with ILPs, and work closely with curriculum staff to ensure smooth student transitions from enrolment to progression.

The role requires strong pastoral abilities, GCSEs in English and Maths, and a passion for student development.

Qualifications

Experience in tutor capacity role.
Holds English & Maths GCSE or equivalent.
Ability to develop rapport with 16-19 year old learners in group and one-to-one settings.
Experience with Higher Education / UCAS application processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

Make contact with parents/guardians/carers within the first 6 weeks to introduce the role and discuss progress and attendance.
Utilise the college monitoring system to provide appropriate support and early actions.
Support students with personal, domestic or social difficulties and signpost to additional help.
Promote achievement and retention through target setting and review using ILP and 1:1s.
Conduct effective tutorial activities and promote positive learner behaviour and progress.
