Job summary

Carpenters Group seeks a qualified solicitor/CILEx to manage a caseload of litigated and non-litigated personal injury claims up to £100,000. You will oversee the full lifecycle, from initial instruction to resolution, ensuring timely, cost-effective outcomes and premium client service.

Ideal candidates have PI caseload experience across RTA Portals and Intermediate Track, with CPR knowledge and strong mentoring skills. The role offers hybrid working and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Solicitor or CILEx with rights or working toward.
• Experience handling own claimant PI caseloads across RTA Portals and Intermediate Track.
• Experience in EL/PL or OL cases is advantageous.
• Experience meeting fee/settlement targets.
• Willingness to mentor and develop colleagues.
• Strong CPR knowledge and related case law; progress claims timely.
• Excellent customer care.
• Clear written and oral advice.
• Strong communication with customers.
• Liaise with external agencies: clinicians, investigators, etc.
• Good IT skills including VF case management and MS Office.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Run a caseload of litigated and non-litigated personal injury claims up to £100,000.
• Ensure gold standard customer care.
• Handle Fixed Fee and Portal RTA claims; maximise damages.
• Obtain medical and non-medical evidence per track.
• Use PI Calculator to progress cases efficiently.
• Issue proceedings via Court Portal.
• Attend conferences/hearings with Counsel when needed.
• Advise clients on litigation and cost risks.
• Explain risks of fundamental dishonesty; verify evidence.
• Gather instructions from lay/insurance clients timely.
• Maintain compliance with conduct rules and internal policies.
• Prioritise court directions and deadlines.
• Keep clients updated via tech while maintaining personal contact.
• Build relationships with Defendant Solicitors and Insurers.
• Due diligence to verify claims.
• Ongoing risk assessment to ensure prospects ≥51%.
• Keep insurers updated to manage exposure.
• Send retainers and update rates/estimates annually.
• Obtain right medical/evidence to advance claims.
• Discuss offers with parties, prefer phone over letters.
• Prioritise daily post and emails; handle urgent matters.
• May act as authorised person when required.
