Job summary

The Dewis Centre for Independent Living invites applications for a part-time Personal Assistant role in Cardiff to support a young man with autism. The position involves 6 hours per week in the community, with duties including companionship, facilitating activities, and promoting independence, while ensuring safety and positive engagement.

Salary is £15.70 per hour. DBS checks are required, and employment is not in the PA's home.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with autism would be beneficial.
• Part-time role with a National Insurance number required.
• DBS check will be required at no expense to you.
• Wages paid every 4 weeks and 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata.
• Support cannot be carried out in the personal assistant’s own home.

Responsibilities

• Support to access the community and enjoy activities of the choice.
• Take him out for walks, cinema, swimming, pool and other activities.
• Encourage independence and life skills development.
• Help him express preferences and make choices.
• Keep him safe and provide appropriate support in the community.
• Provide companionship and conversation.
• Encourage trying new activities and experiences.
• Assist with everyday tasks where needed.
