Job summary

NRL Ltd is seeking a Permit to Work (PTW) Engineer to coordinate and implement the PTW system across our project sites, ensuring all high‑risk activities are controlled through safe and auditable processes in line with UK regulations.

You will own the PTW process, manage hot work permits, and liaise with internal teams and the Principal Contractor's EHS and PTW functions to ensure safe, compliant operation.

Qualifications

• Competent in the understanding and application of a PTW process.
• Experience in complex construction/commissioning environments, especially power/large infra projects.
• Minimum 5 years practical work in large infrastructure erection, commissioning, operation or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Administer and coordinate the PTW system to ensure permits are clear, complete and traceable.
• Review permit requests and validate against RAMS and procedures.
• Coordinate with Permit Acceptors, Holders and Supervisors for compliance with permit conditions.
• Oversee hot work permits including pre-task checks, fire watch and inspections.
• Support fire safety controls per Hot Works Procedures and HPC standards.
• Participate in PTW audits and close findings and corrective actions.
• Act as liaison between internal teams and Principal Contractor's PTW and EHS teams.
• Monitor cross-boundary interfaces and ensure permit coordination across contractors and zones.
• Support training and competency assurance for Permit Acceptors, Holders and Fire Watchers.
• Assist in investigations where PTW noncompliance is a factor.
