Job summary

Carbon,Speke site, is seeking an experienced Permit Officer to centralise and strengthen the Permit to Work (PTW) process on site. You will review, issue and control contractor permits, ensuring safety standards and compliance across industrial activities.

The role requires the ability to challenge unsafe practices, make risk-based decisions and stop work when standards are not met. You will coordinate multiple contractors with operations, engineering and maintenance teams to sustain a strong

Qualifications

• Strong Health & Safety background.
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Q
• Formal Permit to Work Authoriser/Issuer training.
• Experience reviewing RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Experience managing contractor activities in industrial/manufacturing.
• Knowledge of isolation and LOTOTO processes.
• HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Review, authorise and manage contractor permits across site.
• Ensure all Permit to Work processes are compliant with company and legislative requirements.
• Review RAMS and identify missing controls.
• Conduct site inspections and walk-downs prior to permit issue.
• Coordinate multiple contractors and concurrent activities safely.
• Monitor permit compliance and challenge unsafe behaviours.
• Support the management of isolations and LOTOTO processes.
• Identify conflicts between simultaneous high-risk activities.
• Work closely with operations, engineering and maintenance teams to maintain safe working practices.
