Job summary

EDF is seeking a Permit to Work (PTW) Engineer to coordinate and manage the PTW system on a major infrastructure project in the UK. The role focuses on controlling hot work, confined space entry, and electrical isolations with strong safety governance and regulatory alignment.

You will act as the main interface between internal teams and the Principal Contractor's EHS and Permit to Work functions, driving compliance and continuous improvement across all permits and audits.

Qualifications

• Competent in the understanding and application of a PTW process.
• Experience in complex construction and commissioning environments, particularly in power generation or large infrastructure projects.
• Minimum of 5 years practical work experience in large infrastructure erection, commissioning, operation or maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain the PTW system, ensuring clarity, completeness, and traceability of all permits.
• Review and validate permit requests, ensuring alignment with approved RAMS and procedures.
• Coordinate with Permit Acceptors, Holders, and Supervisors to ensure understanding and compliance with permit conditions.
• Oversee the hot work permit process, including pre-task checks, fire watch arrangements, and inspections.
• Support the implementation of fire safety controls in accordance with internal Hot Works Procedures and the HPC Construction Fire Safety Standard.
• Participate in PTW audits and ensure timely closure of findings and corrective actions.
• Act as a liaison between internal teams and the Principal Contractor's Permit Team & EHS Team.
• Monitor cross-boundary interfaces and ensure permit coordination across contractors and work zones.
• Support training and competency assurance for Permit Acceptors, Holders, and Fire Watchers.
• Support Incident Investigations where PTW noncompliance is a factor.
