Job summary

Amey is hiring a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative in Polmadie, Glasgow. You will join a busy team responsible for routine and cyclic highway maintenance, litter picking, and winter standby calls.

The role covers maintenance of roads, drainage, and associated assets with a shift pattern that includes occasional night work. The position offers a competitive salary depending on experience, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional night shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in roads and/or street works.
• Hold a full UK driving licence.
• Demonstrate an awareness to Health and Safety regulations.
• Be self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Ideal if you have previous winter maintenance experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities

• Undertake various highway maintenance tasks, including patching, kerbing, ironwork replacement, and drainage maintenance.
• Operate and maintain vehicles, including HGVs and small plant machinery, with checks and routine maintenance.
• Participate in winter and summer standby duties, including emergency callouts.
• Prioritise safety for yourself and the team at all times.
• Keep accurate records and liaise with Amey employees, subcontractors, emergency services, police, clients, and customers.
