Job description

Senior and Lower School Drum Teacher

This role involves delivering engaging weekly half-hour lessons (individual or paired) during term time, helping pupils to develop strong technical ability, musical understanding, and confidence in performance.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of drumming expertise and have experience teaching pupils from primary through to Key Stage 3, with the ability to prepare more advanced students for GCSE and A Level recitals and graded examinations. You will be responsible for monitoring progress, maintaining accurate attendance records, supporting examination entries in liaison with the Head of Music, and providing one annual report alongside attendance at a parents’ evening.

This self‑employed position requires an organised, communicative, and motivating individual with excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for nurturing young musicians. You will play a key role in the wider musical life of the school, encouraging participation in ensembles, concerts, and extracurricular activities, and actively promoting instrumental study within the school community. A music degree is essential (with a specialist performance degree desirable), alongside experience of relevant examination syllabi and an understanding of current specifications. The role is term time only, with no on-site parking provided. Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and to upholding the school’s caring and supportive ethos.
