Portakabin Ltd, based at our Head Office in York, is seeking a People Operations Manager to lead the UK HR Advisory Team and deliver compliant employee relations advice.

You will coach the team, triage ER cases, and drive policy updates while engaging stakeholders and leading continuous improvement in HR practice. The role offers a competitive salary and benefits, located at the York head office.

Qualifications

• CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience leading and developing HR teams.
• Proven ability to manage complex employee relations cases.
• Good knowledge of UK employment law.
• Ability to analyse risks and provide trusted advice to senior stakeholders.
• Experience in employment policy development, review and communication.
• Strong stakeholder influence at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop the UK HR Advisory Team, providing high-quality, timely advice.
• Triage employee relations cases and allocate work appropriately.
• Advise on high-risk ER cases and manage risks effectively.
• Guide policy application and ensure fair, consistent practices.
• Review and update employment policies and supporting documents.
• Communicate policy changes and train stakeholders as needed.
• Support design/delivery of workshops to increase line manager capability on ER issues.
• Monitor ER case trends, analyse data and provide improvements to stakeholders.
• Liaise with external legal partners to support case resolution.
• Act as escalation point for complex cases and elevate risk when needed.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to maintain confidence in ER advice.
• Ensure adherence to policies and employment law to reduce legal risk.
