Location: Head Office, London and Ravenswood

Hybrid working: 2 days on site as required (Between Stanmore, London & Ravenswood Village) and home working

Do you possess strong people skills and the ability to build effective working relationships quickly, coupled with excellent communication skills? We are seeking an experienced People Advisor to support the organisation through complex employee relations matters, change management, organisational restructures, and stakeholder partnership. This key role involves providing expert advice, influencing leaders, and guiding managers through sensitive people-related challenges with confidence, clarity, and professionalism.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the People Partner in managing employee relations including disciplinary, grievance, change management (restructures), capability, performance management, and absence management, ensuring compliance with employment law and organisational policies.
  • Advise line managers on employment law and employee relations issues, maintaining confidentiality and clear communication.
  • Lead casework relating to employee relations issues, including disciplinary hearings, grievance procedures, and change process consultations. Support development of performance management frameworks and guide managers through relevant policies.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with managers and colleagues, establishing professional credibility.
  • Review, update, and communicate legislation, policies, and best practices across the organisation.
  • Assist in designing and delivering development workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain accurate records for all responsibilities, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Regularly meet with the People Partner to discuss concerns and seek guidance, especially on employee relations matters.
  • Demonstrate awareness of employment law and provide guidance to front-line managers.
  • Possess strong presentation and facilitation skills, involved in producing and reviewing HR policies.
  • Hold CIPD Level 3 qualification or above.
  • Analyze situations quickly and respond appropriately, communicating effectively at all levels.
  • Show sensitivity to cultural diversity and possess excellent people skills, including observation, listening, empathy, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Be customer-focused with a positive attitude, an effective team player, and able to work independently.
  • Plan time effectively and build and maintain good relationships within the community.
  • Demonstrate high commitment and enthusiasm, able to work efficiently towards long-term goals.
  • Understand the roles of other professionals and principles of partnership.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to different sites.
  • Adhere to Norwood’s values and behaviours.
