Exchange Street Claims & Financial Services in the UK is seeking a senior technical pensions expert. You'll interpret new rules, assess regulatory changes and explain their operational meaning across the business.
Based in Newcastle with three days in the office, the role shifts to two days every other week onsite, with remaining time spent remotely. You’ll act as escalation point for complex pension issues and shape processes with Compliance, Operations, Transfers and IT.
Are you the person everyone turns to when pensions get complicated?
When new rules land, legislation changes or something technically awkward crops up, are you the one people ask:
"What does this actually mean?" If so, this is the kind of role where that knowledge carries real weight.
You'll work closely with the Head of Pensions within a growing national financial services business, becoming a senior technical point of reference across the wider operation.
The team is already established and expected to grow further, so there's genuine scope to build your influence and become a key technical figure in the business.
Salary is up to £80,000, alongside a strong benefits package including:
This isn't a traditional people-management job.
It's much more of a player-coach / senior technical expert position. You'll spend your time understanding pension legislation, regulatory change and technical developments, then working out what they actually mean operationally.
That could include:
You won't just know the rules.
You'll help decide how the business responds to them.
Your job title matters less than your technical depth.
You could be working for a pension provider, platform, SIPP/SSAS operator, pension consultancy or occupational pensions business.
You may currently be a Pensions Technical Specialist, Technical Consultant, Senior Pensions Administrator, Pensions Consultant, Technical Manager or Pensions Specialist.
What matters is that when pension rules change, you're already thinking about what they mean, where the risks are and what needs to happen next.
For the first three months you'll need to be in the Newcastle office around three days per week. After that, it reduces to roughly two days every other week, with the rest of your time working remotely.
The first stage is a 20-question technical discussion over Teams. They want to know whether you genuinely understand pensions.
And if you do, this is a chance to become one of the most technically influential people in the business.
