Job description

About This Opportunity

The Pensions Administration Apprentice will provide pension administration services to clients in line with established procedures and control frameworks, while undertaking a structured learning programme in a friendly and supportive environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Calculating benefits for members (leavers, retirements, transfers, deaths).
  • Maintaining membership records on the administration system.
  • Handling general and technical queries from members, employers and trustees via telephone, email and letter.
  • Supporting team workload processing, responding to enquiries, calculating and settling member benefit entitlements, creating and maintaining scheme records, and liaising with third parties.
  • Managing workloads to ensure agreed service standards or targets are met, escalating concerns as required.
  • Answering inbound telephone and email enquiries, ensuring appropriate verification checks are undertaken.
  • Collating periodical client information/reports.
  • Contributing to scheme events or projects.
  • Developing technical competency by attending briefings, understanding benefit structures and using formal scheme documentation.
What We Are Looking For
  • Education to A Level or equivalent.
  • Strong numeracy skills.
  • Commitment to completing the apprenticeship qualification.
  • Legal permission to work in the UK by the start of employment.
  • Additional qualifications: Grade 5 or above in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent (preferred).
  • Personal qualities: commitment to continuous learning, ability to work independently and in a team, openness to feedback, professional approach, recognition of when guidance is needed.
  • Skills: analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written), relationship building, workload prioritisation.
