Job summary

Pembridge Hall School in Notting Hill, London, seeks a PE Assistant to support learning under the guidance of the Head of Sport and PE teachers. You will help deliver engaging activities, supervise pupils, and assist with materials while upholding safeguarding policies.

As a friendly, patient, and proactive team member, you will contribute to a stimulating classroom and supportive school environment, fostering pupil wellbeing and inclusive education for ages 4–11.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience working with children, ideally in a school or educational setting.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and professional conduct expectations in schools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
• A warm, patient, and proactive approach, with high expectations for pupil behaviour and engagement.
• Flexibility and a collaborative mindset, with willingness to support across a range of classroom and school activities.

Responsibilities

• Support class teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive, and child-centred learning experiences.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress.
• Help create and maintain a stimulating, well-organised, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development using supportive approaches.
• Assist in observing, recording, and sharing student progress with teaching staff.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs where required.
• Supervise pupils during break times, lunch, school trips, and events.
• Assist with preparation of learning materials, classroom displays, and resources.
• Contribute to classroom routines, transitions, and day-to-day organisation.
• Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and child protection policies at all times.
