Job summary

Power Electrics is seeking a hands on service and maintenance engineer to support our Bristol depot. You will service hire fleet generators and customer equipment, fault find, and carry out on site set ups for synchronising generators. A strong customer focus and practical skill set are essential for this role.

The role requires driving with towing, yard and workshop duties, and participation in a weekly on call rota. DBS checks are required and eligibility to work in the UK is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with generators and fault finding.
• Strong customer communication skills.
• Mechanical or electrical background essential.
• Driving licence is essential, towing categories preferred.
• Forklift training preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintenance on hire fleet generators and equipment.

• General yard and workshop duties, including loading and unloading.
• Deliver and collect equipment using company vehicles and refuel as needed.

Job description

Job Purpose

This is an excellent opportunity to work with the largest generator specialist in the South West. We have a growing demand for our services, and we need someone to support our Bristol depot in the service and maintenance of our own rental fleet and also customers’ own equipment.

Naturally, you will have strong customer service skills, as you will be liaising with both external and internal customers, providing updates and ensuring complete customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and carry out service and maintenance work on hire fleet generators and ancillary equipment.
• Fault find and carry out breakdown repairs to Rental Equipment. Also, to customer equipment when required.
• Attend customers’ sites to assist with setting up Synchronising generators for set-to-set and set-to-mains applications.
• Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
• Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using appropriate company vehicles where required, including refueling.
• Carry out general yard and workshop maintenance as required and keep all areas clean and tidy.
• Assist customers to run cables out on-site, as required.
• Carry out site surveys for special jobs, as required
• Carry out duties on our company on call rota system, 1 week in 4.
• Liaise with Depot Foreman regarding allocation of hire equipment, parts, oil and fuels on a daily basis.
• Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes daily Safety Checks to company vehicles
• Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 procedures, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement programme.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience of generators and good fault-finding abilities. Also possess strong communication skills
• Mechanical or electrical background essential
• Driving licence ESSENTIAL (with towing categories preferred)
• Forklift licence preferred but not essential as training could be given
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Holder of CSCS / ECS Card preferred but not essential as training could be given
