Job summary

Power Electrics seeks a capable service technician to maintain and repair generator fleets for both rental and customer-owned equipment. You will work from the Bristol depot, performing on-site set-ups, fault finding, and routine maintenance while liaising with customers to ensure satisfaction.

The role requires a mechanical or electrical background, a driving licence (towage a bonus), and potentially forklift or CSCS/ECS training. DBS checks apply; on-call rota is 1 in 4.

Qualifications

• Experience with generators and mechanical/electrical systems.
• Strong fault-finding abilities and communication skills.
• DBS checks required; references satisfactory.
• Driving licence essential; towing categories preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintenance on hire fleet generators and equipment.
• Fault-finding and repairs on rental and customer equipment.
• Site attendance to set up synchronising for set-to-set and mains use.
• Assist with yard/workshop; load/offload equipment; drive forklift when needed.
• Deliver/collect generators using company vehicles; refuel as required.
• Carry out site surveys and system checks; work on on-call rota (1 in 4).
• Coordinate with Depot Foreman on equipment, parts, oils, and fuels.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity to work with the largest generator specialist in the South West. We have a growing demand for our services, and we need someone to support our Bristol depot in the service and maintenance of our own rental fleet and also customers' own equipment. Naturally, you will have strong customer service skills, as you will be liaising with both external and internal customers, providing updates and ensuring complete customer satisfaction.,

• Prepare and carry out service and maintenance work on hire fleet generators and ancillary equipment.
• Fault find and carry out breakdown repairs to Rental Equipment. Also, to customer equipment when required.
• Attend customers' sites to assist with setting up Synchronising generators for set-to-set and set-to-mains applications.
• Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.
• Drive fork lift in yard
• Deliver and collect generators and ancillary equipment using appropriate company vehicles where required, including refueling.
• Carry out general yard and workshop maintenance as required and keep all areas clean and tidy.
• Assist customers to run cables out on-site, as required.
• Carry out site surveys for special jobs, as required
• Carry out duties on our company on call rota system, 1 week in 4.
• Liaise with Depot Foreman regarding allocation of hire equipment, parts, oil and fuels on a daily basis.
• Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes daily Safety Checks to company vehicles
• Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2015 procedures, proactively contributing to the company's continuous improvement programme.
• Previous experience of generators and good fault-finding abilities. Also possess strong communication skills
• Mechanical or electrical background essential
• Driving licence ESSENTIAL (with towing categories preferred)
• Forklift licence preferred but not essential as training could be given
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Holder of CSCS / ECS Card preferred but not essential as training could be given
