Job summary

JGA Recruitment is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to own the end-to-end payroll and pensions function in Marlborough. This hands-on role requires managing the full monthly payroll cycle and ensuring compliance so employees are paid accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate will have UK payroll expertise, strong HMRC knowledge, and experience with auto-enrolment and TPS. Immediate availability or short notice is preferred for this 6-month fixed-term contract, fully onsite in Marlborough.

Qualifications

• End-to-end UK payroll experience
• Independently manage a complete payroll cycle
• Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
• Pensions and auto-enrolment knowledge
• Teachers' Pension Scheme experience desirable
• Strong reconciliation, reporting and payroll systems skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work autonomously
• Immediately available or max one-week notice period

Responsibilities

• Manage the full end-to-end monthly payroll, including starters, leavers, overtime, allowances and statutory payments
• Process PAYE, National Insurance, RTI submissions and HMRC requirements
• Complete payroll reconciliations, journals and year-end reporting
• Administer pension schemes, including Teachers' Pensions (TPS) and auto-enrolment
• Ensure accurate pension contributions, submissions and compliance
• Maintain payroll records, controls and audit documentation
• Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency
• Act as the main point of contact for payroll and pensions queries
• Work closely with HR and Finance to maintain accurate payroll information
