Sheridan Maine is seeking a Payroll Officer to take full ownership of end-to-end payroll for a Bournemouth-based team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role offers hybrid/remote working with required face-to-face handover in the Bournemouth office.

Ideal candidates will have 2-3+ years' experience in UK payroll, be proficient with PAYE, NI, pensions, and HMRC submissions, and thrive in a fast-paced finance function with strong attention to detail and deadlines.

Qualifications

• End-to-end payroll processing experience
• UK payroll knowledge (PAYE, NI, pensions)
• Experience with payroll reporting and reconciliations
• Ability to meet monthly deadlines
• Excellent communication and discretion

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll
• Ensure accurate processing of salaries, overtime, statutory pay, and adjustments
• Validate payroll inputs and maintain audit controls
• Prepare monthly payroll reporting pack with headcount analysis and variance
• Complete HMRC PAYE and NI submissions and ensure compliance
• Reconcile payroll accounts including pensions and HMRC submissions
• Investigate payroll discrepancies and provide clear explanations
• Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure data accuracy and approvals
• Respond to payroll queries and support process improvements
