Search is looking for a Payroll & Pensions Coordinator to join a busy People Operations team in Liverpool. The role covers end-to-end payroll and pension administration across UK and Crown dependencies, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.

The successful candidate will have strong Excel skills, excellent numerical and analytical abilities, and a collaborative approach to work with HR, Finance and external providers. Hybrid working is available in Liverpool City Centre.

Payroll & Pensions Coordinator



  • Location: Liverpool City Centre (Hybrid Working Available)

  • Salary: £33,000 - £35,000

  • Contract: Permanent

  • Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm (35 hours per week)


The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll & Pensions Coordinator to join a busy People Operations team based in Liverpool. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll and pensions professional to play a key role in the administration, coordination and reconciliation of payroll and pension processes across multiple jurisdictions including the UK, Jersey, Guernsey and Ireland.


Working within a specialist team, you will help ensure payroll and pension activities are delivered accurately, compliantly and within strict deadlines while operating within an ever-changing regulatory environment.


Key Responsibilities

As Payroll & Pensions Coordinator, you will:



  • Administer pension auto-enrolment and re-enrolment processes across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Assess employees in line with statutory pension requirements.

  • Produce, analyse and reconcile payroll and pension data.

  • Coordinate monthly pension submissions and liaise with pension providers to ensure accurate allocation of employee contributions.

  • Prepare payroll and pension reports for review and sign-off.

  • Process and reconcile payroll-related allowances, deductions, new starters, leavers and permanent employee changes.

  • Support the delivery of monthly payroll processing and reporting activities.

  • Build strong relationships with external providers, including payroll and benefits partners.

  • Monitor changes to payroll and pension legislation and support knowledge sharing within the team.

  • Review and improve payroll and pension processes, controls and procedures.

  • Work closely with HR, Finance and third-party providers to ensure accurate payroll and pension outputs.

  • Maintain accurate records, filing systems and supporting documentation.


About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.


Essential Experience


  • Previous end-to-end payroll and pension administration experience within a medium to large organisation.

  • Strong understanding of pension auto-enrolment legislation and pension administration processes.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Excellent numerical, analytical and reconciliation abilities.

  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

  • Good communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.

  • A flexible, collaborative and team-focused approach.
