Job summary

Zohorecruit is recruiting a Payroll Executive in Portsmouth to deliver accurate and timely payroll services for a varied client portfolio. You will work within a supportive team, ensuring compliance with current legislation and building strong client relationships.

Responsibilities include end-to-end payroll processing, auto-enrolment compliance, and handling payroll queries with a focus on accuracy and service quality. Flexible start/finish times and opportunities for training are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year’s payroll experience in a practice or client-facing environment.
  • Experience managing end-to-end payroll processes including pensions and statutory payments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in manual and system-based work.
  • Ability to prioritise, organise and manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Customer-focused, with confidence handling queries by phone and email.
  • Understanding of auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Flexible start and finish times and willingness to adapt.
  • Proactive in maintaining up-to-date payroll legislation knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Input payroll data and perform audit and validation checks.
  • Monitor and process statutory payments and entitlements.
  • Complete year-end payroll reporting where applicable.
  • Maintain time and attendance systems (BMS).
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing and auto-enrolment compliance for clients.
  • Respond to payroll related queries as the point of contact for clients.
  • Provide support for payroll enquiries.
  • Perform peer reviews of payroll outputs.
  • Support general administrative tasks and contribute to the wider payroll team.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, internal teams, HMRC, and third-party providers.
  • Communicate effectively across the payroll function and wider business.

The Role

As a Payroll Executive, you will play akey role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a variedportfolio of clients. Working as part of a supportive payroll team, you willmanage end-to-end payroll processes while building strong client relationshipsand ensuring compliance with current legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inputpayroll data as required, including running audit and validation checksand interfacing with General Ledger and pension systems
  • Monitorand process statutory payments, including SSP, SMP, and other entitlements
  • Completeyear-end payroll reporting where applicable
  • Maintainand update time and attendance systems (BMS)

Requirements
