Job summary

TPF Recruitment represents a fantastic firm of chartered accountants based in Maidstone, seeking a Payroll Senior to lead the payroll function for 140 clients. The role offers autonomy, working within a fast-growing practice that uses modern software and provides broad exposure across payroll compliance and advisory services.

You will manage weekly and monthly payrolls, ensure accuracy and compliance, and mentor junior staff in a dynamic, client-focused environment in the South East.

Qualifications

• Must be CIPP qualified or working towards
• Experience handling payroll for multiple clients (weekly and monthly)
• Demonstrated technical payroll knowledge across schemes
• Experience in bureau or accountancy practice payroll environments
• Excellent software skills with payroll packages (Sage/Iris/Brightpay/Moneysoft)

Responsibilities

• Full payroll function including setting up and registering with HMRC
• Run payroll within current legislation and keep records up to date
• Calculate tax, national insurance and pension accurately
• Manage deadlines and ensure timely payroll submissions
• Process year-end and P11Ds; handle auto-enrolment where applicable
• Process statutory payments and annual leave calculations
• Liaise with clients, colleagues and external agencies
• Audit payroll inputs and conduct payroll training for staff
• Collate and enter payroll journals; CIS submissions and reconciliations

This is a really excitingopportunity to join a fast growing, modern and forward thinking practice that has a great reputation in Kent and across the South East.

Our Client is a highly reputable firm of charteredaccountants based in Maidstone, East Kent. As well asproviding a compliance service, their main efforts are put in toproviding good quality business andpersonal advice. The practice provides a holisticaccounting service across accounts, tax, audit, payroll, bookkeeping, CIS and VAT; and services clients of all sizes across a range of sectorsincluding manufacturing, professional services, marketing, sales,start ups ect. They are verymodern in their approach and utilise the latest software. Clients range from startups through to £30m+ T/O.

This is apivotal role, reporting in to the Directors of the business and you will have full autonomy of thefirms payroll department, looking after 140 clients.

The remit of the position will be built around the applicant to include:

• Full payroll function includingsetting up and registering with HMRC.
  
• Run payroll within currentlegislation keeping all records up to date.
  
• Calculate tax, nationalinsurance and pension manually or on a computer program.
  
• Time management so payrolldeadlines are achieved.
  
• Calculate statuary SSP, SMP andSPP where due.
  
• Real time submissions, finalyear end submission and P11d’s
  
• Pension implementation for auto enrolment.
  
• Calculating statuary paymentsand annual leave.
  
• Liaise with clients,colleagues, external agencies concerning payroll.
  
• Auditing of payroll and input.
  
• Training other staff on payroll.
  
• Collating and entering payroll journals.
  
• CIS submissions and adjust forsuffered payments and balance PAYE payments for client.
  

Requirements

• The idealcandidate for this Payroll Senior vacancy will have either bureau oraccountancy practice payroll experience.
  
• BeCIPP qualified, partqualified orqualified byexperience
  
• Haveexperience indealing with amix of weekly and monthly payrolls
  
• Be hardworking and up for a challenge inafast pacedworking environment
  
• Have good software (Sage, Iris, Brightpay, Moneysoft etc.) andtechnical payrollknowledge
  

£25,000 - circa £40,000 dependent on experience and background, negotiable.
