Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a well-established accountancy practice. You will own end-to-end payroll across a portfolio of clients, processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls while handling RTI submissions and year-end duties.

You’ll work directly with clients, delivering excellent service and ensuring payrolls are accurate, compliant and on time. The role offers a supportive team and opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

• Solid end-to-end payroll experience, ideally in an accountancy practice, bureau or multi-client environment.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Experience using payroll software such as IRIS and Brain is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients.
• Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
• Calculate and process PAYE, NI, statutory payments and deductions.
• Manage starters, leavers and employee changes.
• Process SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory payments.
• Complete payroll reconciliations and maintain accurate records.
• Submit RTI/FPS/EPS submissions.
• Handle year-end payroll processes including P60s.
• Respond to payroll queries and provide high-quality client service.
• Keep up to date with payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
• Collaborate with accounts and payroll teams to meet deadlines.

Portfolio Payroll is working with a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice that is looking to add an experienced Payroll Specialist to its growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroller who enjoys working in a client-facing environment and is confident managing end-to-end payrolls for multiple clients.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring everything is processed accurately, efficiently and on time. Responsibilities will include:

• Managing end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients
• Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls
• Calculating and processing PAYE, NI, statutory payments and deductions
• Managing starters, leavers and employee changes
• Processing SSP, SMP, SPP and other statutory payments
• Completing payroll reconciliations and ensuring accurate payroll records
• Preparing and submitting RTI/FPS/EPS submissions
• Dealing with year-end payroll processes, including P60s
• Responding to payroll queries from clients and their employees
• Providing a high level of customer service and building strong client relationships
• Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
• Working closely with the wider accounts and payroll teams to ensure deadlines are met

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid end-to-end payroll experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice, bureau or another multi-client payroll environment.

You’ll be confident managing your own workload, comfortable dealing directly with clients and have excellent attention to detail. Experience using payroll software such as IRIS and Brain or similar would be advantageous.
