Capital One is hiring a Payments Settlement Operations Lead in Farnborough for a hybrid role with two days in-office weekly. You will manage settlement balancing, reconciliations, and risk controls across the DCI Settlement System, while liaising with Legal, Compliance and Business Risk teams.

You will drive process improvements, mentor offshore teammates, and explore AI-enabled enhancements using Gemini/GEMS to support daily controls and reporting.

Qualifications

• Cross functional knowledge of the Payment Network Industry focusing on Financial Services, Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk or Operations.
• Proficiency with Google Suite and AI tools (Gemini and GEMS).
• Strong written and verbal communication with all levels of staff and management.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily financial and operational support on the DCI Settlement System controls.
• Research and resolve daily settlement discrepancies and production issues with cross-functional partners.
• Lead the team’s response to past-due payments, ensuring swift resolution with settlement agents.
• Coach and mentor team members to provide premier customer service within SLAs and expand offshore knowledge.
• Document and map processes using Operational Excellence tools and controls.

Job Title: Payments Settlement Operations Lead

Location: Farnborough, London - Hybrid

Working Pattern: 2 days in-office and 3 days remote.

About the Role

This role will have a wide range of responsibilities as part of a team managing settlement balancing, and reconciliations. This position will also be part of the team liaison to the enterprise-wide Legal, Compliance and Business Risk functions. This person will help to develop business-unit specific approaches and ensure accurate and timely implementation across all risk management disciplines and all areas in the International Settlement organization. This individual will support the business compliance and operational risk/control activities within Settlement which may include risk assessment, controls, procedure documentation, process design, control workflow/systems, reporting, testing, remediation and third-party management. This individual will evaluate current operations across International Settlement, to identify areas for enhancements and work with business partners to implement these processes. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

What you’ll do

• Provide financial and operational support on the DCI Settlement System daily controls, ensuring Settlement balances daily, and ensuring achievement of team objectives.
• Research and resolve daily Settlement discrepancies, Production issues and customer inquiries, collaborating with Business Partners to meet customer needs, in line with Risk and Compliance goals.
• Lead the team’s response to past due payments, including funds owed to and from DCI’s settlement agent. Ensure swift resolution of outstanding payments by collaborating with cross-functional teams and settlement agent contacts, actively removing roadblocks as necessary.
• Coach and mentor team members to provide premier customer service within SLAs, with a focus on expansion of knowledge with team members based Offshore. Provide cross training on team functions to maintain bench strength and ensure no single point of failure.
• Build the team’s knowledge on the DCI Balancing functions, ensuring all processes are mapped and documented with suitable controls in place, through ‘Operational Excellence’ tools and practices.
• Proactively identify improvement and automation opportunities, to facilitate continuous process improvements on daily controls, and mitigate future errors.
• Identify, investigate and implement opportunities for introduction of AI into daily controls activities, leveraging Gemini tools and acting as trailblazer for AI activities within the team.
• Act as a subject matter expert for all operational matters regarding clients’ use of the DCI Settlement system, building strategic relationships across multiple partners.
• Lead priority projects as necessary, taking ownership to fulfil requirements. Balance conflicting priorities as needed to ensure timely completion, and proactively provide progress updates.

The skills and experience you need

• Cross functional knowledge of the Payment Network Industry focusing on Financial Services, Compliance, Internal Audit, Risk or Operations.
• Google Suite knowledge and expertise, particularly in AI (Gemini and GEMS)
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees and management; including managing expectations, communicating issues, risks and opportunities.
• Certification in Control Self Assessment, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager
