Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to deliver patient-centered care in a hospital setting. You will support patients’ physical, psychosocial and educational needs while collaborating with nurses and the health care team to ensure safe outcomes.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, and completion of an approved CNA/MA/PCT program or HMH PCT Apprenticeship. EMT/CMA backgrounds are also considered; apprentice pathways are available.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Completion of CNA/Medical Assistant/PCT program or nursing fundamentals program or HMH PCT Apprenticeship; alternate medical background accepted.
• Candidates not completing a program may enter the HMH PCT Apprentice Program.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care tailored to age, safety, and education needs.
• Support patient outcomes through judgement and timely actions.
• Communicate with patients, nursing staff and care team about status.
• Show initiative to go beyond basic duties and improve performance.
• Collaborate in planning care from admission to discharge.
• Participate in Unit/Department PI activities.
