Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a part-time Care Navigator / receptionist for Gwrych Medical Centre in Abergele. The role involves directing patients, handling calls, booking appointments and processing prescriptions, with full training provided.

Experience is welcome but not essential; the post focuses on delivering excellent patient service and accurate record keeping in a busy training practice with partners and trainees.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade A to C.
• Computer literacy.
• Experience of working with people.

Responsibilities

• Receive, assist and direct patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional.
• Answer, make and divert telephone calls, and take accurate messages.
• Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures and book new and follow‑up appointments.
• Identify and see patients needing urgent consultation without a prior appointment.
• Register new patients and those seeking temporary cover, and complete the required procedures.
• Process repeat prescription requests so they are ready for collection within 48 hours.
• Scan documents into patient records and enter patient information on the computer.
• Retrieve, refile and maintain patient notes and correspondence in strict alphabetical order.
• Advise patients of charges for private services, take payment and issue receipts.
• Greet patients and visitors and provide general assistance to the practice team.
• Secure the premises at the end of the day, with internal lights off and the alarm set.
• Carry out additional duties as requested by the partners or Practice Manager.
