Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to serve as a liaison between patients, payers and the hospital revenue cycle. You will collect demographic information, verify coverage, and secure payments at the point of service to maximize reimbursement.

Required are a high school diploma or GED and experience with patient registration, insurance verification, and MS Office. Fluency in English is essential; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus depending on market.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience preferred.
• Knowledge of common insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid).
• Fluent English; bilingual in Spanish a plus depending on market.
• Proficient MS Office usage (Word/Excel/Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and privacy regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service and build rapport with patients.
• Identify and triage patients upon arrival and ensure proper identification.
• Answer calls, record messages, and forward to appropriate staff.
• Verify demographics, insurance benefits, and obtain authorizations as needed.
• Collect out-of-pocket payments and document transactions accurately.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents in the system.
• Maintain cash drawer and log patient admissions and transfers.
