Job summary

We Manage Jobs (WMJobs) is seeking a part-time Pathway Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching across the Pathway, supporting learners to progress in line with EHCPs. You will plan, deliver, assess and monitor learner progress while creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

The role requires Level 2 literacy and numeracy, a degree-level qualification, and a teaching qualification (or progress towards one). Experience with SEND, including Autism, is essential.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Pathway Teacher. Working 23.5 hours per week over 5 days.

As a Pathway Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across the Pathway, supporting learners to maximise their educational, social and personal progress in line with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). You will create and deliver person-centred learning programmes that inspire learners to achieve their full potential, develop independence and prepare for future employment and adult life.

You will plan, deliver and assess high-quality learning, monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to person-centred planning processes. Working collaboratively with Progress Coaches, Learning Support staff, Job Coaches, parents, carers and external agencies, you will ensure earners receive appropriate support to achieve their individual goals. You will also promote employability, enterprise activities, literacy and numeracy development throughout the curriculum while helping to maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

To apply, you should hold Level 2 qualifications in literacy and numeracy, a relevant degree-level qualification (or equivalent), and a teaching qualification or be working towards one. A specialist SEND teaching qualification, or a commitment to obtaining one, is also required. Experience of successfully working with learners with special educational needs and disabilities, including those with Autism and complex needs, is essential.

You will need excellent knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, with the ability to differentiate learning and provide personalised support that enables all learners to succeed. Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills are essential, together with the ability to build positive relationships with learners, families, colleagues and external partners. A positive, proactive and flexible approach, alongside a strong commitment to learner achievement, safeguarding, equality, diversity and continuous improvement, is fundamental to this role.

Teaching and Learning

Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment, which inspires learners to achieve their potential. Teach a caseload across the Pathway, working to a detailed scheme of learning, ensuring all lessons and activities are thoroughly planned and person centred Manage and develop course and Pathway resources, sharing materials and methods with other staff Ensure high expectations are consistently communicated to learners which inspire and motivate Make effective use of ILT, to enhance learning and progress, including using Moodle to upload course materials and assessment activities, as appropriate Embed and promote employability learning opportunities within the curriculum, including identifying learner placements in liaison with Job Coaches, as appropriate. Promote enterprise activities across the curriculum and the College, working with learners to develop entrepreneurial skills. Contribute towards making a positive and productive physical environment that enhances learning and meets learners’ sensory needs Develop bespoke learning programmes which meet individual needs

Assessment and quality

Undertake appropriate assessment activities to monitor the progress and attainment of learners. Assess learner work frequently, consistently and accurately, providing details of how learners can improve their work Take part in verification and standardisation processes in line with College procedures and Awarding Body requirements and/or the RARPA Framework. Take an active role in the self- assessment process, and contribute towards implementing the quality improvement plan for courses and the Pathway. Reflect on own professional practice and expertise, including using learner feedback, to help develop and inspire own practice

Person-centred planning/recording progress

Set and review subject and individual targets through regular feedback, one-to-one progress reviews, including using Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), EHC plans to inform and baseline assessments Ensure teaching, learning and assessment approaches meet the needs of individual learners, including those with complex presentations In liaison with Progress Coaches, contribute to person-centred planning, setting learning goals and recording and reporting learner progress and attainment in line with College policies and practices Maintain written records detailing the progress and achievement for individual learners on Databridge. Work closely with the Independence and Learning Support roles and lead on the planning and delivery to ensure coherent, individualised planning of learning and support Liaise with the pathway mentor to develop regulation strategies where applicable and contribute to the monitoring and review of behaviour support plans

Other responsibilities

Take responsibility for a specific role within the Pathway or for overseeing the coordination of a course or group Liaise with teachers in other Pathways to ensure a joined-up approach to subject specific developments. Take part in information, advice and guidance (IAG) activities for prospective learners, ensuring accurate and appropriate advice is provided about the Pathway curriculum. Working in conjunction with Progress Coaches, ensure appropriate links with parents and carers are made to maximise learner progress. Be responsible for developing and maintaining skills and knowledge to competently perform own role through research and training as identified during the appraisal process and on-going feedback. Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by line manager.
