Job summary

Nelson Academy is seeking a compassionate Pastoral Support Officer to work with families, providing early intervention and pastoral support to help pupils overcome barriers to success.

You will collaborate with parents, academy staff and external agencies to strengthen engagement in education, promote positive attendance and support wellbeing, inclusion and educational outcomes.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
• Level 3 qualification in Education, or equivalent.
• Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training, or willing to undertake.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience within the field of education, social services/welfare or the voluntary sector.
• Knowledge of the social and emotional factors that affect a child's capacity to learn.
• A commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of pupils.
